21 June 2017Museum Volunteers are Recipients of Prestigious Queen’s Award
Gairloch and District Heritage Company is thrilled to announce that it has been selected as a recipient of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS) 2017. The company runs the Gairloch Heritage Museum. The QAVS was created by The Queen in 2002 to mark the occasion of her Golden Jubilee, recognising excellence in voluntary activities carried out by groups in the community. It is the MBE for volunteer groups and sets the national benchmark for excellence in volunteering by such groups.
The work Gairloch and District Heritage Company group does for the community was apparently very much admired by the independent Assessment Committee who visited the museum last year and made recommendations for the QAVS. The award represents a tremendous achievement for the organisation and is a wonderful recognition of the extent and standard of the work that their volunteers do and how much Gairloch and District Heritage Company has achieved through their efforts. Gairloch and District Heritage Company are now entitled to display the QAVS logo on the museum website and promotional material. A crystal bearing the Queen’s Award logo will be presented to the group by the Lord Lieutenant of Ross and Cromarty later this year.
